AI writing software
One piece of writing software for the whole book
Planning in one app, drafting in another, AI in a browser tab and formatting in a fourth tool adds up to a lot of copying. AIBookWriter keeps every stage of a book in one place, with AI built into each.
The trouble with a writing stack
Most writers end up with a toolkit that grew one problem at a time.Several tools for one book
Notes in one place, an outline in another, the manuscript in a word processor and AI in a separate tab.
AI bolted on
An assistant that does not know your outline, your characters or what you wrote yesterday.
Formatting is its own project
Trim sizes, themes, ebook files and spine widths, all in yet another program.
Publishing by hand
Blurbs, keywords, covers, sample chapters and launch emails, each assembled from scratch.
A typical stack versus one workspace
Here is where each part of the job lives.| Typical stack | AIBookWriter | |
|---|---|---|
| Story planning | A notes app or a spreadsheet | Characters and chapter cards stored with the book |
| Drafting | A word processor | The chapter editor, with version history |
| AI help | A chat window you paste into | Drafts and passage edits inside the chapter, next to your text |
| Whole-book edit | A freelance editor, or skipped | The Review step: score, editorial letter, pacing notes and line edits |
| Cover and listing | Separate design and copywriting tools | AI cover, blurb, keywords and categories in the project |
| Formatting | A dedicated formatting program | Print-ready PDF, EPUB, DOCX and Markdown, with preflight checks |
| Publishing and promotion | A website builder and an email tool | Author and book pages with sample chapters, plus social posts, emails and a press kit |

Moving an existing manuscript in
Switching writing software is only worth it if your work comes with you. AIBookWriter imports Word (.docx) manuscripts of up to 200,000 words, and the import is free.
Here is what happens:
- Chapters are detected automatically. The manuscript is split into chapters without you marking them up by hand.
- You review the split before anything is imported. A chapter break in the wrong place gets caught at this stage, not after you have started working.
- An optional AI pass fills in the rest. It reads the manuscript and fills in characters and a story bible, so the AI tools have context from your first session.
After the import, the manuscript is a normal book project. Continue writing in the chapter editor, plan the remaining chapters on chapter cards, run the whole-book review or go straight to formatting.
If your manuscript lives in another program, save or export it as a .docx file first; most word processors and writing apps can do that.
Leaving is just as straightforward. You keep all rights to what you write, and you can export your work at any time.

Questions about the software
Do I need to install anything?
No. AIBookWriter is a web app that runs in your browser, and your books are stored in your account, so you can pick up a chapter on a different computer. The word counter and royalty calculator even run entirely in your browser, without sending your text anywhere.
Can I write without using the AI?
Yes. The chapter editor works as plain writing software with version history. AI drafting, passage edits and the review are there when you want them and cost credits only when you use them. Character profiles and chapter cards can be filled in by hand too.
What file formats can I import and export?
Import Word (.docx) manuscripts of up to 200,000 words, for free. Export Markdown on every plan and DOCX from Plus, plus an EPUB and a print-ready PDF with trim sizes, themes and preflight checks on the Pro plan. Visual books export as a print PDF with bleed.
How is it priced?
Plans are billed monthly or yearly. Free costs nothing and includes 100 credits. Plus is $12 a month billed yearly, with 1,000 credits a month. Pro is $30 a month billed yearly, with 5,000 credits, and adds print formatting, translation, audiobooks, author pages, visual books and series. Ultra is $120 a month billed yearly, with 25,000 credits.
Can I use my own AI keys?
On the Ultra plan, yes: you can bring your own OpenRouter and ElevenLabs keys. On the other plans, AI work is paid in credits, so there are no API keys to manage. You choose a model tier per chapter, Swift, Balanced or Literary, and the credit price is shown up front.
Which languages does the interface support?
The interface is in English. Books themselves can be written in more than 30 languages, set per book in Basics, so you can write in a language other than the one the menus use. On Pro a finished book can be translated into a new linked edition without changing the original.
