CoversPlus plan
A front cover built from your book's own details
Generate a cover from your title, author name, genre and chosen style in the Metadata & cover step. For print, Format & export adds the spine and back to make a full wrap cover.
How covers are made
The cover starts from what your book already knows about itself.Fill in the book
Title, subtitle, author name, genre and premise come from your book, so the cover reflects what's inside.
Choose a look
Illustrated, photographic, minimalist typographic, painterly, watercolor, vintage, dark and moody, or bright and playful. Add a line of art direction if you have a picture in mind.
Generate
Each cover costs 30 credits. The lettering is read back and compared with your title and author name, and you're warned if they don't match.
Keep the one you like
New covers join a history. The latest becomes current, earlier ones stay one click away, and a failed attempt never removes what you had.
What the cover step includes
A front cover for your listing now, and a full print cover once the book is formatted.Front covers in book proportions
Portrait front covers sized for ebook listings and for the front panel of a print cover.
A wrap cover for print
In Format & export, print books get a full wrap cover with back, spine and front, with the spine width calculated from page count and paper.
A lettering check
The words on each new cover are read back and compared with your title and author name, so a misspelling is flagged before you publish.
Cover history
Every cover you generate is kept. Switch back to an earlier one whenever you like.
Art direction
Describe the scene or the mood in a line, such as a lighthouse at dusk, and the cover follows it.
Upload your own
Already have a cover from a designer? Upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP image and use that instead.
From front cover to wrap cover
An ebook needs one image: the front cover, which readers usually meet as a small thumbnail long before they see it full size. A paperback needs more. Its cover wraps around the book, with a back panel, a spine and the front, and the spine's width depends on how many pages the book has and what paper it's printed on.
AIBookWriter handles these in two stages. In the Metadata & cover step you make the front cover, generated from your book's details or uploaded. Generating costs 30 credits per cover and is available from the Plus plan. Covers are asked to keep the title large and legible and to read well at thumbnail size, and the lettering is checked against your title and author name.
Later, when the interior is formatted in Format & export, the page count is known, and the spine width is calculated from it and the paper you choose. That's when the wrap cover for print comes together, so the spine matches the book that will actually be printed. Print formatting is part of the Pro plan.

Covers for different kinds of books
Genre fiction
Pick a style that fits the shelf, such as dark and moody for a thriller or bright and playful for a romantic comedy.
Non-fiction
A minimalist typographic cover puts the title and subtitle first, which suits practical books.
Children's and visual books
Illustrated and watercolor styles fit picture books, and visual books keep one art style throughout the pages.
A series
Use the same style and a recurring motif in your art direction to make the books look like they belong together.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a cover cost?
Each AI cover generated inside a book costs 30 credits, and cover generation is available on Plus, Pro and Ultra. The price appears on the button before you generate. If you'd like to try first, the free public cover generator makes a preview cover without an account.
Does it make print covers with a spine?
Yes, in two stages. The Metadata & cover step makes the front cover. In Format & export, print books get a full wrap cover with back, spine and front, and the spine width is calculated from the page count and paper. Print formatting is part of the Pro plan.
What if the lettering comes out wrong?
Image models sometimes misspell words. After each cover is generated, the text on it is read back and compared with your title and author name, and you're warned if they don't match. Generate another, adjust your art direction, or switch back to an earlier cover from the history.
Can I use my own cover instead?
Yes. If a designer made your cover, or you made it yourself, upload it as a PNG, JPEG or WebP image in the Metadata & cover step and it becomes your book's current cover. You can still generate AI covers later and switch between them in the cover history.
Which styles can I choose?
Illustrated, photographic, minimalist typographic, painterly, watercolor, vintage, dark and moody, and bright and playful. Add a line of art direction to steer the image, such as a lighthouse at dusk with the letters in the foreground. The title, subtitle and author name come from your book.
Can I see the cover on a 3D book?
Yes. The free 3D book mockup generator shows a cover as a hardcover, a paperback on a desk, a stack of books, a tablet or a lifestyle scene. Mockups are handy for social posts, your author page and launch emails. Upload your cover image or describe it, then pick a mockup style.
