Audiobook StudioPro plan

Give your book a narrator, and its characters voices of their own

Audiobook Studio reads the book you wrote in AIBookWriter aloud. Pick a narrator from 13 voices, give your main characters voices of their own, and download each chapter as an MP3.

From finished text to finished audio

Narration starts from the text that is already in your book, so there is no file to export, upload or paste.
  1. Choose who narrates

Choose one of the 13 voices to read your book. The narrator reads the prose and any dialogue you haven't given to a character.

  2. Cast your characters

Give the characters who speak most a voice of their own. Their lines are read in that voice while the narrator carries everything else. Skip casting for a single-voice reading.

  3. Check the price and render

The credit cost for the chapters you selected is shown before anything runs. Start with one chapter to hear how the casting works, then render the rest.

  4. Listen, fix and download

Play each chapter back. If a line comes out wrong, re-record just that paragraph instead of the whole chapter, then download the chapter as an MP3.

What the studio gives you

Built for long books, where a small fix shouldn't mean starting a chapter over.
  • 13 voices

The narrator and your cast come from the same set of 13 voices, so you can keep the narrator distinct from the characters who speak most.

  • Narrator plus character voices

Dialogue is read by the character who speaks it, while one steady narrator carries the prose. Long conversations stay easy to follow by ear.

  • One MP3 per chapter

Each chapter is rendered as its own audio file, so you can review, fix and download the book a chapter at a time.

  • Re-record a single paragraph

A misread name or an odd emphasis doesn't cost you the chapter. Re-record the paragraph it sits in and keep everything around it.

  • Priced by length

1 credit per 12.5 characters of text, with 20% added for multi-voice narration. You see the total before you render.

  • Your own ElevenLabs key on Ultra

Ultra subscribers can run narration on their own ElevenLabs account. Each action on your key costs 1 AIBookWriter credit.

Single narrator or narrator plus cast

Both options use the same voices and the same tools for fixing and downloading. The difference is who reads the dialogue.

What narration costs

Narration is priced by length. Every 12.5 characters of text costs 1 credit, and the count includes spaces and punctuation. When a chapter uses more than one voice, the total goes up by 20%.

Here is the arithmetic for a chapter that is 30,000 characters long. With a single narrator it costs 2,400 credits. With a narrator plus character voices it costs 2,880. Before you render, the studio shows the exact character count and price for the chapters you selected, so you can decide how much to narrate now and how much to leave for later.

Audiobook Studio is part of the Pro plan, which includes 5,000 credits a month, and of Ultra, which includes 25,000. Because rendering works chapter by chapter, you can narrate a book in stages and pick up where you stopped.

On Ultra you can also connect your own ElevenLabs key. Narration then runs on your ElevenLabs account, and each action costs 1 AIBookWriter credit instead of the per-character price. If the key fails, the job stops with an error rather than quietly switching to platform credits. The details are on the bring your own API key page, and current plan prices are on the pricing page.

Good reasons to narrate

  • Fiction with a cast

Give the detective, the suspect and the narrator different voices so long dialogue scenes stay easy to follow by ear.

  • Non-fiction and memoir

A single steady narrator suits advice, teaching and life stories, where the listener's attention belongs on the ideas.

  • A preview for your readers

Narrate the opening chapter and share the MP3 with your mailing list as a taste of the book.

  • Proofing by ear

Hearing a chapter read aloud is a good way to catch clumsy sentences, repeated words and dialogue that doesn't sound like speech.

Frequently asked questions

Which plan includes Audiobook Studio?

Audiobook Studio is part of the Pro plan, which costs $30 a month billed yearly or $37 month to month and includes 5,000 credits a month. Ultra includes everything in Pro with 25,000 credits a month. Free and Plus accounts can write and export books but can't narrate them, and you can upgrade when the book is ready to record.

How is narration priced?

Narration costs 1 credit for every 12.5 characters of text, counting spaces and punctuation. Using a narrator plus character voices adds 20% to the total. The exact price for the chapters you select appears before you render, so you can narrate a few chapters at a time and keep an eye on your balance.

Can I fix one mistake without re-recording the whole chapter?

Yes. If a name is mispronounced or a line is read with the wrong emphasis, re-record only the paragraph it sits in; the rest of the chapter stays as it was. If the problem is in the text itself, correct the sentence in your manuscript first, then re-record that paragraph.

How do character voices work?

Each character in your book can be given one of the 13 voices. When that character speaks, the line is read in their voice, and the narrator reads everything else. Minor characters can stay with the narrator. A small, distinct cast is usually easier to follow by ear than a different voice for everyone.

What do I get to download?

Each chapter is rendered as its own MP3 file. Listen to it in the studio, re-record any paragraphs that need it, and download the chapters you're happy with. Authors keep all rights to what they write in AIBookWriter, and you can export your work at any time.

Do I have to write the book in AIBookWriter first?

The studio narrates books in your AIBookWriter library. If your manuscript already exists as a Word file, import the .docx for free, check the chapter split, and it becomes a book you can narrate on the Pro plan. Manuscripts of up to 200,000 words can be imported.

Can I use my own ElevenLabs account?

Yes, on the Ultra plan. Add your ElevenLabs API key in settings and narration runs on your account, with each action costing 1 AIBookWriter credit. The key is encrypted at rest and only its last four characters are ever shown. If it stops working, the job stops instead of switching to platform credits.

Hear your book read aloud

Write or import your book, then narrate it in Audiobook Studio on the Pro plan. Every account starts free with 100 credits.
