AI writing assistant

A writing assistant for the whole book, from first idea to launch week

AIBookWriter helps at every stage an author goes through: finding the idea, planning, drafting, editing, checking, packaging and telling readers about it. You decide what it touches.

Help at each stage of a book

Use the assistant for one stage or for all of them.
  • Finding the idea

Book ideas with a reader and a hook, twenty title options at a time, and a premise tested in a quick outline.

  • Planning

Characters with arcs and speech notes, and a chapter outline on one of six plot structures.

  • Drafting

Chapters in your voice, guided by a writing sample and streamed in next to your text.

  • Revising

Highlight a passage and describe the change you want. Only that passage is affected.

  • Editing the whole book

A score, an editorial letter, chapter pacing notes and line edits to accept or reject.

  • Checking

A grammar checker that keeps style notes apart from errors, an originality check for clichés, and a word counter.

  • Packaging

A blurb, keywords, categories, a cover and formatted files.

  • Launching

Social posts, email sequences, a press kit and review requests built from the book.

Four questions to ask before you choose an AI writing assistant

Most AI assistants can produce a decent paragraph. The differences show up over the length of a book. Before you commit to one, ask:

1. Does it remember the project? A book has characters, a timeline and promises made in chapter two. An assistant that only knows the current conversation needs you to explain all of it again, every time.

2. Does it change your text without asking? Some assistants return a rewritten block when you asked about one sentence. Look for suggestions that are scoped to the passage you selected and that wait for your approval.

3. Can you see and undo what it did? Version history and side-by-side drafts turn experiments into something you can try without risk.

4. Where does it stop? If the answer is “at the text”, you will need separate tools for editing the whole manuscript, the cover, the store listing and the files. That is fine if you already have them; it is a lot of extra work if you do not.

AIBookWriter's answers: the project stores characters, outline and style settings; edits apply only to the passage they were made for; drafts sit next to your version and every save is in version history; and the work continues past the text into review, cover, formatting, publishing and promotion.

What assisting looks like inside a chapter

A typical revision, from start to finish.
  1. Select a passage

Highlight the paragraph that is not working.

  2. Say what you want

Shorter, sharper, more tension, less exposition, in her voice rather than his.

  3. Compare

The suggestion appears next to the original. Accept it, edit it or discard it.

  4. Keep going

Your choice is saved and kept in version history. Each chat edit costs 5 credits.

Who it helps

  • First-time authors

A clear path through the stages of a book, with help at each one, so the project does not stall at the outline.

  • Working novelists

Drafts for the scenes you are dreading and an editorial read when the manuscript is done, without handing over the voice.

  • Experts writing non-fiction

Chapters drafted from your own reference files, cited as [S1], [S2], with no invented sources.

  • Authors with an old manuscript

Import a Word file of up to 200,000 words for free and get help finishing what you started.

  • Parents and teachers

Picture books, bedtime stories and social stories with the same characters on every page, on Pro.

Questions about the AI writing assistant

Is it a chatbot?

Not in the usual sense. You can ask for changes to a passage in plain language, but the assistant works inside a book project that already knows your characters, outline and style. Its suggestions appear next to your text instead of in a separate conversation you copy from.

Will it take over my book?

Only as much as you let it. You can write every word yourself and use the assistant for planning, a single stuck scene or the final review. AI drafts are offered next to your version, and nothing is applied to your manuscript until you accept it.

Can it help with grammar and proofreading?

Yes. The grammar checker separates real errors from style notes and leaves your voice alone, the originality checker flags clichés and stock phrasing, and the whole-book review returns line edits you accept or reject one by one. The standalone checkers are priced by length, from 5 credits per 1,000 words.

How much does the assistant cost?

Help is paid in credits. A passage edit costs 5 credits, a drafted chapter 15 to 30 depending on the model tier, and the whole-book review 15 per 1,000 words, once per book. The Free plan includes 100 credits; Plus includes 1,000 a month and Pro includes 5,000.

Does it work in languages other than English?

Yes. Books can be written in more than 30 languages; the interface itself is in English. Pick the book's language in Basics and the assistant drafts in that language. A finished book can also be translated into a new linked edition on Pro.

Do I keep the rights to my writing?

Yes. You keep all rights to what you write with AIBookWriter. You can export your work at any time as Markdown, as DOCX from Plus, or as an EPUB or a print-ready PDF on Pro, and take it to any editor, publisher or store.
