AI novel writer

An AI novel writer that drafts beside you, not over you

You keep the pen. AIBookWriter drafts scenes and chapters from your outline and characters, in your style, and puts every suggestion next to your text for you to take or leave.

What novelists dislike about most AI writing tools

If you have tried writing fiction with a general assistant, these will sound familiar.
  • It flattens your style

Your long, winding sentences come back short and tidy. Your deadpan narrator starts explaining the joke.

  • It takes over the plot

Ask for a scene and you get the scene it thinks should come next, complete with a twist you did not plan.

  • You cannot see what it changed

A revised chapter arrives as a new block of text, and finding the twelve words it altered is your problem.

  • It forgets the book

By chapter fifteen it no longer knows your antagonist's motive, or that the bridge collapsed in chapter six.

Craft controls a novelist expects

The settings that shape a novel live in the project. They are set once and used every time the AI writes.
  • Point of view and tense

First person past, close third present, whatever the book is. Every draft follows it.

  • How each character speaks

A speech note in every character profile keeps dialogue voices apart.

  • Beats and hooks per chapter

Chapter cards list the beats to hit and the hook to end on, so drafts serve the scene you planned.

  • Six plot structures

Three-Act, Hero's Journey, Save the Cat, Seven-Point, Freytag or Kishōtenketsu, or an outline built by hand.

  • A Literary model tier

When the prose matters most, draft on Literary, at 30 credits a chapter.

  • Mature-content switch

Decide once, per book, whether mature themes are allowed.

A writing session, step by step

This is what working on a single chapter looks like.
  1. Open the chapter card

Check the summary, beats, hook, location and who is in the scene. Change anything that no longer fits what you have written so far.

  2. Write what you can see

Draft the parts that are clear to you yourself. The editor keeps every saved version.

  3. Ask for a draft

Have the AI draft the chapter, or the rest of it. The draft streams in next to your text, not on top of it.

  4. Take what works

Keep a paragraph, a line of dialogue or nothing at all. Your version stays the version.

  5. Fix one passage

Select a paragraph and ask for a specific change: tighter, angrier, slower. Each chat edit costs 5 credits and applies only to that passage.

You write, it drafts, you decide

There is a difference between a tool that writes your novel and a tool that helps you write it. AIBookWriter can do either; this page is about the second.

In practice that means using the AI where it saves you the most effort and costs you the least of your voice. A few patterns that work well:

  • Drafting connective tissue. Travel, transitions, the scene where everyone arrives at the inn. You know what has to happen; the AI writes a version you can cut down to size.
  • Breaking a block. When a scene will not start, generate a draft, disagree with it and write your own. Reacting is easier than inventing.
  • Trying alternatives. Ask for the argument from the other character's side, or the reveal placed a chapter earlier, without touching your version.
  • Keeping continuity. Character profiles and the outline sit in the project, so the AI knows what the antagonist wants in chapter twenty as well as in chapter two.

The writing sample is what makes this work. Paste up to 20,000 characters of your own fiction, ideally from this book, and the drafts follow your sentence rhythm and word choice more closely. Update it as the novel develops: the voice of chapter one is rarely the voice you end with.

Questions from novelists

Can I write most of the novel myself and use AI only sometimes?

Yes. Nothing in the workflow forces the AI to write. You can type every chapter yourself and use AI only for a stuck scene, a passage edit or the whole-book review at the end. Credits are spent only on the AI work you ask for, so a mostly hand-written novel costs very little.

Will my novel sound AI-generated?

Less so when you give it your own prose to match. Paste a writing sample of up to 20,000 characters, set point of view, tense and tone, and add speech notes to your characters. Then revise. A draft you have gone through line by line reads like you because, by then, it largely is you.

Does it know what happened earlier in the book?

The characters, outline and book settings are stored in the project and used whenever chapters are drafted. Keep the chapter cards current as the story changes, because a card that still describes an abandoned plotline will pull the next draft back toward it.

Which genres does it handle?

Any genre you set in Basics, and you can choose more than one. Romance, fantasy, mystery, literary fiction and horror use the same workflow; what changes is the tone, story elements and plot structure you pick. A mature-content switch decides whether mature themes are allowed in the book.

Can I import the chapters I have already written?

Yes. Bring them in from Word: any .docx manuscript of up to 200,000 words imports for free. Chapters are detected automatically and you confirm them before the import runs, and an optional AI pass fills in the characters and a story bible. Then pick up exactly where you stopped.

Who owns the novel?

You do. You keep all rights to what you write with AIBookWriter. Export the novel at any time as Markdown, as DOCX from Plus, or as an EPUB or a print-ready PDF on the Pro plan, and take it to any editor, agent or store you choose.
